ReGeneration X The Podcast: JennXXX72 "TSLK" Explains TikTok

Topic: What does it mean when someone says Generation X and why are so many attracted to the TikTok GenX Train.

Week 1: Introduction to Generation X

  • Overview of Gen X Movement and TikTok

  • Gen X Years Born: 1965-1980

  • Topic:  What does it mean when someone says Generation X and why are so many attracted to the TikTok GenX Train.

  • Special Guest: Jenn JennXXX74 “TLSK”

“Well, I've been on TikTok for five years. I started off on TikTok very political. I had an account that was over 100,000 followers, and I lost that account,” JennXXX72 said. “TikTok goes through waves of fine-tuning things. And back in those days, about five, six years ago when the app came out, their answer to things they didn't like to be posted on here was just to ban the account. So I've had to start over, but now I do monetize and there are several ways to monetize on TikTok.

“When you say start over, do you mean like you have to create a whole new account and start from scratch?” GenX Jason asked.

The two discusses how losing 100K followers in an instant can create new opportunities for learning while totally sucking.

“So you'll lose them and some of them have found me again,” JennXXX72 said. “I was one of the people on the other side of the, you know, of the phone watching creators and saying, this is so easy. It’s not.”

Gen X children, often referred to as the "street light children," grew up in an era before smartphones and digital reminders. For these kids, the street lights served as a natural clock, signaling when it was time to return home.

The rule was simple: when the street lights turned on, it was time to go inside. This practice was common because street lights typically began to illuminate around dusk, usually 20 to 30 minutes before sunset, providing a reliable cue for children to end their outdoor activities and head home.

This tradition fostered a sense of responsibility and time management among Gen X kids, who often enjoyed significant freedom to play and explore their neighborhoods until dusk.
